Homelessness is a destructive thing in the lives of the homeless and their family. Finding a missing love one can be a trying and exhausting experience filled with a roller coaster of emotions.
I will update this post as soon as new information is available. Thanks to all involved in the search for the missing. We continue to search for Rick Smith until we find him.
Important Notice!
This site is a Microsoft Office Live Small Business hosted website. Microsoft has changed its platform and will discontinue Office Live in the months ahead and begin a new software called Office 365. I don't currently see this site following that course as it doesn't provide the options best suited to this communication site. A notice will be posted as soon as an alternative host is selected.
Update 13 November 2011
I've contracted with HostMonster for two years to web host some of my websites and blogs. A portion of those sites will also be partnered with WordPress.org and/or WordPress.com. HostMonster is one of the oldest webhosting companies on the Internet and one of the best reviewed. WordPress is a world renown blogging platform that has since expanded into many other avenues of Internet software, applications, plugins and widgets to bring publishing into a new generation.
The partnership of HostMonster and WordPress as well as other unique features will enhance the Cliff Harrison Network, The Christian River Network and the RIVER Organization into the future.
If I survive and recover from my heart operation in the next couple of weeks I hope to update the system networks with enhanced media and communication features that I intended to launch several years ago.
Please note that I will begin "stripping" and migrating this site into different locations before actually transferring the entire remaining site to a new RIVER Organization website. The RIVER Organization will remain the original vision with a Conservative Christian focus while the Christian River.Org (The Christian River Humanitarian Effort) website will focus primarily on Do-It-Yourself, Direct-to-the-Streets charity, How-to-do-it, media coverage and stories of street activities, people volunteering for these charity efforts, sharing of ideas, stories and experience and similar things.
Although Christian River is Christian based, the religious voice will be toned down to a degree that encourages non-Christians as well as non-conservatives to join us in meeting the humanitarian needs of those suffering homelessness, hunger and other avenues of poverty. Politics and religion, although favor subjects of mine will be greatly reduced in the central theme of the effort as humanitarianism is the primary focus.
That does not mean that I or the Christians who join us will abandon our love and duty to God, to Jesus Christ, our Lord, it simply means on this site we just won’t be as vocal or preachy. There will be sections addressing the Christians however and non-Christians who desire to join our effort need to be flexible to endure these instructions, usually “how-to” articles for Christian Ministries.
You can't please everyone so sometimes you have to please yourself. The fact is that there are many people concerned with poverty. These people hail from Christian organizations as well as non-Christians. They come from many different political convictions and attitude. As well as many different Christian groups. I have personally gotten along with many people over the years in the humanitarian effort with us all coming from different political and religious convictions.
No one political party or religion or secular group dominates humanity. Humanitarianism is everyone's concern--or ought to be.
For those who can't get along with us and work together, well then this just isn't for them and they need to move along.
We need to respect one another. I will demand that in the comment areas of the new websites and blogs within the networks.
The Christian River Network Christian River Network and the Christian River Magazine Christian River Magazine will focus on collections of media and communications aspirations within the Christian River Group. The magazine will be like any other magazine covering interviews with people in the volunteer charity effort, the homeless, the hungry, the needy and the poor--poverty in general. It will cover news and features, legislation and opinions, proposals and ideas, Letters-to-the-Editors and much more.
But hey, first things first.
To beat the deadline of this site going down at Microsoft's choosing, I've got a lot of work to do and with upcoming surgery, little time to do it in. So, it might look a little ugly for awhile. Just think of it as the opposite of a facelift, whatever that is.
Finally, much of the material from this site will go into archives, some public, some private.
But first, I've got to survive the surgery and then recover. Until then, remember these words:
Charity is Power Help somebody. Few people succeed alone. If you help somebody who's down on his luck, you might be contributing to somebody else's success. Many people find that surprisingly rewarding—powerful, even. It might also make you more inclined to ask for help yourself when you need it. Which might turn out to be the smartest thing you ever did.--Rick Newman, U.S. News & World Report

Also, current plans are to divide or spinoff the website into the two original, but separate, ideas of the RIVER Organization and the Christian River Humanitarian Effort. This will allow a more harmonious & balanced platform within the network as each site is reshaped with a focus on a more defined audience.
Despite past hard feelings with Microsoft for constantly starting and then ending social network sites--which is frustrating as heck--I want to say thank you for helping me become experienced with webmaster skills.
Food Not Bombs Las Vegas Website
Remember in 2006 we had the same unconstitutional ordinance crafted by Mayor Oscar Goodman and the Las Vegas City Council until the federal courts struck it down and ruled the ban unconstitutional.
